candy colored studio podcast episode #141 - sisters it's our turn!

candy colored studio podcast episode #141 - sisters it's our turn!
this past year we’ve faced so many things collectively. we’ve had to reevaluate our goals in life...we’ve even had to make changes. i’ve been humbled by those around me, listening to their hearts and responding to callings & passions. some of these are personal calls to attend to their health...to make themselves a priority for the first time in a long while. others are inviting us to do small and simple things to make our communities a better place. still others are bravely asking the hard questions. whatever the call, may you find the courage to hear your heart and act, for truly, ladies and sisters, it is our turn!

candy colored studio podcast #140 - angels among us

candy colored studio podcast #140 - angels among us
over the past year, more than ever it has felt like the media & outside forces are trying to convince us that we're alone, everyone is out to get us and that we're on polar sides from all we know and meet. i've been looking for angels and forces of good around us that perhaps we may not see...giving love, strength and comfort. but i'm also seeing angels among us and visible...neighbors and friends doing seemingly small things (some big too)...making a difference in our neck of the woods. meet my neighbors on paradise lane: do they help you see angels around you too?

candy colored studio podcast episode #137 - amanda herring of la petite maison antiques
a huge highlight of 2020 for me, was getting to know and work with the dynamic duo of amanda & scott herring of la petite maison antiques in draper, utah . soo much laughter, joy, and all things french {bien sûr}! there are so many moments where a message from amanda simply made my day. amanda and i sat down and chatted about her incredible journey in design, antiquing, entrepreneurship, working with a team & your family, supporting small businesses, collaborating and of course --- all things french. there are so many nuggets of wisdom hidden throughout and at the end we do a lightning round Q&A all en francais (sorry it cuts out a bit at the end...still learning lol)! enjoy, enjoy! click the spotify playlist below to listen to the songs that inspired the titles of all my paintings at la petite maison!

how to take photographs of artwork for future prints? start with natural light. filtered is easiest and cloudy days make it a dream. sunny days are great too, just put your work near a window with indirect light. windows on the north side of your home will be easiest.

candy colored studio episode #64 - author melinda brown: EVE and ADAM discovering the beautiful balance

author mindy brown and artist katrina berg in the candy colored studio
Meet my beautiful friend Melinda Brown, author of EVE and ADAM discovering the beautiful balance. We originally met at art shows as she and her family are avid art collectors. The more I got to know Mindy, the more I learned of the foundations and causes she supports that seek to protect and uplift women. One sweet afternoon she shared with me some of the precious gems she was researching for this book. It came at a time when I was struggling spiritually with so many unanswered questions. Our talk and the knowledge she shared with me that day has been an important part of my healing and understanding that I will always treasure. I have been anxiously waiting for her book to be published and am excited for each of you to have the opportunity a

candy colored studio episode #58 - no more apologies

candy colored studio episode #58 - no more apologies
There are so many things that we apologize for as artists...but are these apologies for sharing our work on social media, sending emails, or just for our pricing...are they helping us or are they actually harming us and our art biz? In this episode, i’ll talk about 5 things i’ve caught myself apologizing for in my career...the crazy thing was realizing that i wasn’t the only one doing it and that i can improve my mindset and practice by recognizing those apologies and using it to improve my outlook and what i’m offering.
