"blue skies", 96x48" oval oil on wood (106x58" with frame) , named after the song by susie arioli, (#8 in playlist below), lightly varnished, wired and ready to hang.

theme: celebration
song: blue skies by susie arioli

culminating the collection and journey, this final piece is a celebration!! susie arioli’s song talks about the joyous blue skies we can look forward to – the perfect sky for a celebration with the natural world. the bluebirds she sings about are found throughout the painting. symbolically, bluebirds represent joy – so do hummingbirds, doves and peacock. you’ll find 7 bluebirds in the painting. the number 7 represents endurance, persistence and inner peace. religiously, 7 is a fulfilment of promises or oaths. there are 4 fruit doves, 5 hummingbirds, a peacock and a rabbit. all together 18 creatures in all – 17 birds and a rabbit.

the rabbit is no longer going down the rabbit hole – instead, it’s climbing out of an unexpected place – and no longer able to be contained. rabbits are known to bring good luck, fertility and intuition. they are also a strong easter symbol of resurrection and rebirth. peacocks are symbolic of rejuvination, regrowth, royalty, respect, integrity and honor. this piece draws together many of the symbols portrayed in the other pieces in this collection: a birdbath representing the healing living waters of christ and his resurrection, cake or sweets to represent the good things in life that we enjoy as we celebrate, and a chinoisery vase. this particular vase has the chinese characters that say “good fortune” written atop. like the birds, the flowers were chosen because they also represent joy: magnolia branches & blossoms, chrysanthemum and lisianthus. the eucalyptus branches symbolize increasing vitality and restoring balance.

may these paintings, their signs and symbols of spring remind you of all you are achieving and all you can become. that your spring may be a long one of restoration, rejuvenation & hope. most of all – may you remember your infinite worth & potential, and know that you’re soo loved. xo, katrina
