when i was studying abroad in torino italy, i bought a sarah vaughan cd and would listen as i stayed up late working on my landscape architecture projects. it was so hot that summer and we didn't have air conditioning in our flat, so it was normal for me to get into a groove once the sun was down, and things in our busy neighborhood were quiet. "tenderly" was one of the songs that gave me comfort while away from home, experiencing a new language and comfort. i look back a those peaceful nights with so much fondness. they've truly shaped much of my outlook on life and the simple joys of friendship and rich culture.
you can hear more about how i choose the songs to name my paintings in episode # 187, you'll also find all the playlists that i have created for each year (2018 - 2022) and a playlist just for the french songs that have named my paintings.
