"give me the simple life", 20" diameter, oil on wood (framed it's closer to 23" diameter), named after the lorez alexandria song (#5 on the playlist below)
i found that throughout my early 20s, marriage, and motherhood journey, i willingly jump into new adventures, projects and potential. soon, though, i have to reevaluate & decide what is the most important thing i can be doing – what will “move the needle” with my goals, dreams and relationships? often, i throw the extra out and carefully add back in the most valuable or needed. other times, i carefully curate where i put my time, energy and heart. it’s never ending it seems. another beautiful cyclical pattern i see woven throughout my life.
and i don’t believe i’m alone – it was most apparent during covid – but i see it more easily these days. i feel so much gratitude for those around me who continually make hard choices to improve themselves, their family, and those they love most.
it’s encouraging, it gives me strength, and inspires me to find new ways to continue to curate and carefully create “the simple life.”
