valerie hudson suggests that the two trees mentioned in the garden of eden represent our heavenly parents: the tree of knowlege of good & evil representing our father and the tree of life symbolizing our mother. each parent offers traits, roles and an apprenticeship for each of their sons and daughters to become like them. while they have different roles and strengths, they are one in purpose – creating, supporting, teaching, and guiding their children.

i chose a chocolate mimosa with its mauve foliage to represent our mother as it symbolizes adaptability, change and fertility. within Her branches, you’ll find blooms with symbols fitting to her divine role: daisy (life), iris (hope), yarrow (divine, everlasting love),

orange blossom (eternal love), cosmos (creation & creativity), pomegranate flower (fertility), white lily & daffodil (resurrection), and magnolia (nobility & femininity).

father is represented by an oak as they represent strength, courage, and knowledge. within His branches look for these blooms and their symbols: iris (wisdom), lotus (enlightenment), nasturtium (growth), chrysanthemum (truth), black-eyed susan (justice), wild rose (opposition), and white oleander & cactus flower (evil).
