lehi's dream, the tree of life and the fruit have been portrayed many different ways. artist friend caitlin connolly (listen to caitlin's ted talk here) invited artists to look at the dream in a way...to consider "all the feeling of a tender parent." the fiddle leaf fig is a simple symbol of the tree of life, and the deer represents our ancestors & loved ones always watching over us...sometimes standing guard and protecting our little ones. because of the eternal gift of agency, they may choose paths we've not chosen...but these are important parts of their journey. just like lehi and sariah, we will worry and feel a spectrum of feelings only a tender parent can feel. but these children were our heavenly parent's children first, and i know they will also be watching over them with all the tender feelings too.

life is sweeter in candy color! my oil paintings are a celebration of those sweet moments in between the hard and unsavory...a refuge from the unwanted parts of life that so often visit us all. thick strokes of paint & color with stained glass shine -- are windows to the deepest treasured memories in our hearts. life is rarely easy and jolly...but savoring the sweet moments gives us the strength we need to find peace, growth, and fulfillment along our journey.
formally trained as a landscape architect, my work beckons the “outside-in” by depicting the natural world: flora & fauna in our yard, neighboring fields, and from my travels.
