recently, i found myself physically & emotionally depleted. like so many, my full life is currently packed to the brim with all sorts of good -- but i've been struggling to find the balance and peace I so constantly crave. when the answer came to lighten my load, i listened. though, i couldn't help feeling guilty saying "no" to the charge causing my physical & spiritual exhaustion. as i pondered and plead for understanding, clear thoughts came reassuringly. in those quiet moments, i learned that we have been offered gifts (so many varied gifts to each of us), and that while we are to cultivate and use these gifts to serve, love, and support others...these gifts were not all meant to be used at once. a willing heart is simply not enough. instead, a critical portion of this life journey is to listen with our hearts; to know when it is wise to use each of these gifts. To do good and find joy in serving with a willing heart is indeed good, but to learn wisdom in timing, and to understand & accept our own limitations is even better. i am grateful for those who have learned and lived these truths, encouraging me to do the same.
