carl and i celebrated our daughter's high school graduation with her in the south of italy the first week of may. wonderful people, food and landscapes everywhere to inspire us and sparked many precious memories. here are the first 5 oil paintings created from this memorable adventure.
on our way to tropea near the bottom of the italian boot, i was not paying close enough to our map. we took a major detour which was one of the most memorable adventures through the italian farms, fields and orchards. windy, narrow, dirt roads up and down hills and gullies, we got a feel for the charming and slow life of the region. olive groves and tiny villages every once in a while. there's a reason why everything tastes so good in italy - they take their time, using the best seeds, celebrating the sweet soil that produces the sweetest onions we've ever tasted.
** original oil paintings are created in my midway utah studio. each piece is created with so much oil paint, using her brushes and palette knives. candy colored oil paint covered in varnish to protect each piece.
