the reference photo for this came from an adventure in moab, utah where we found ourselves stuck. our vehicle was stuck for about two hours. while we tried to free the truck i was struck by the surrounding scenery. it could not be ignored, so i filed this one away to paint.
painting nature or memories of places brings such a connection to our beautiful world. brekke’s training in photography allows her the ability to create countless reference photos to paint from. inspiration is found in the light and shapes and relationships of nature. building layers on layers of watercolor is a soothing process that comes through in her work. currently living in utah with her husband and three kids, but finding inspiration wherever she is.
