un'estate fa 10" original oil floral monk parakeet

carl and i celebrated our dancing & culinary school daughter's high school graduation with her in the south of italy the first week of may. our trip inspired me in so many ways. it was also a wonderful reminder of the adventures studying abroad a summer in torino - italian hilltowns and italian gardens. in this latest floral & bird series, i chose birds and flowers found in italy.

while studying abroad, everything felt new and exciting. sometimes though, it was super comforting to find something familiar like the fuchsia bougainvillea growing along the walls and over footbridges of the italian train stations. our southern california yard also had bougainvillea everywhere. similarly, peonies in the beautiful italian flower shops are familiar and yet exciting so charmingly arrayed in the artful floral stands and shops. peonies symbolize love, happiness and good fortune and the perfectly perched monk parakeet represents companionship communication, resourcefulness and joy.

** original oil paintings are created in my midway utah studio. each piece is created with so much oil paint, using her brushes and palette knives. candy colored oil paint covered in varnish to protect each piece.
