"slow down" 38x50 oil on wood
dearest collectors pictured above! the husband shared his favorite song, “slow down” by sissel – as we listened together, i was overwhelmed by its beauty but also its deep deep meaning. we made a plan to include his trusty companion and puppy, topper and his favorite breed: appaloosa. i went home & began pondering. i listened in the studio, we listened as we drove to the temple, i shared it with friends and loved ones. as i listened, the holy spirit, our heavenly parents and savior began reminding me of beautiful truths, new thoughts, and some connections that brought so much joy, meaning and immense gratitude.
delicately added, my patron feels that as he listen's to sissel, she his special angel watching over him. she was delicately added near the base of the tree of life. i wanted to depict this sweet asherah as an espalier tree that looks more like a ladder climbing towards our savior & parents. much like jacob's ladder in his vision, we can climb closer to THEM as we make & keep covenants.

the mosaic pieces of light from the sun (son) and its rays represent the truth & intelligence coming down towards us, gifts, if we will but receive them. the fruit and flowers were chosen for the tree because they are all symbols of peace (apples, figs, white poppy, apple blossom, cosmos, & lotus). they are the fruits of peace received when waiting upon the lord. the dove also represents peace and the holy spirit.
the gold wrapping around the tree is a reminder of god's great power in our lives and our divinity that can be remembered and realized as we seek THEIR truth & knowledge and constantly move upwards towards THEM. the water at the base of the tree is the living water of christ. constantly nourishing all who seek HIM.
