one of the things i struggle with most as an artist, is expressing verbally how i feel; why i create what i create. this is not the case for my dear friend annie blake. her words and art come together, support one another, lift & enlighten all who hear and see them...rare gifts indeed. for the past 7 years, annie has shared her gifts via her “november challenge”. different themes and different subjects, but november has been something i look forward to all year. this year, while she fights stage 4 pancreatic cancer, friends & collectors are sharing to keep the tradition going.
there’s something pretty special about having a sister...my younger and much taller sister maresa is just that for so many reasons. being apart from family during COVID has been the pits, but maresa quietly reminds me what is most important, and is willing to do HARD THINGS even when faced with the seemingly insurmountable. she has shown me time and again that doing hard things is valuable and doable. we adore our auntie reesa and miss her so very much!
it seems trite to say that it’s a joy to have a daughter, but it really is. i’m so grateful to take this wild journey of life alongside anneclaire. full of grace and gumption, she’s taught me so much! i’m so happy to celebrate her 14th year and love on her today. if you’re interested in some of her weekly cookie treats, visit @sweettreatsbyanneclaire or email me and we’ll get you on her list. (and yes, she started shipping recently).
meet our 3rd midwife, richelle jolley, who cared for and delivered our middle son and our twins. what is it that makes richelle such a great midwife and why do i love her so? hear about her unique gifts, talents, beautiful nurturing soul, and how she continues to bless my life and the lives of our family members each day.
when i think of my dear friend gayle, i think of gifts or superpowers...the ability to feel so deeply, intuitively...to interpret nature and all it’s goodness...to listen, to breathe deeply...to share love and accept it freely. this is gayle jones. the photographer, painter, installation creator, entrepreneur, boss, site scout, mother, and amazing friend. Enjoy hearing about this special lady.
there’s nothing quite like finding friendship and connection where you can chat, eat yummy food, hit the town with the girls or your hubbies, celebrate art and culture...and then there’s crystal miller, who taught me that friendship is all those things and so much more -- it’s taking the hard times and using your experiences to make someone else’s journey a bit smoother or a bit less unexpected. meet crystal: the cheerleader everyone needs in their life, a warrior, survivor, mother of five, nurse and midwife, and one smart cookie to boot!
hear about my sister, sweet lady desiree madsen, or as our kiddos call her: auntie dez or auntie dezzer. dez is so much fun, a lover of christmas lights, eastlake, holidays in general, all things dance, the cosmos, movie quotes, gift boxes & games. she’s a massage therapist, and an artist... and i’m so grateful to be her sister...even if you can’t tell which of us is the oldest (personality-wise of course lol).
if you need a triple shot of goodness, today is the day...meet my cousins gretchen cronin & alison dodds, and their mom margaret amy. talk about amazing sister and mother relationships, these fabulous ladies are such a light to so many. hear how gretchen is a docent at an atlanta museum, taking classes during COVID, and alison is now a realtor in northern utah. their sweet mom is an absolute hoot, no wonder these ladies are so much fun. enjoy!
SWEETlady ashley and i met through her sister amy ashworth. talk about the ideal sister friendship...everyone needs a sister in their life like ashley & amy. these two have so much fun together, they also team up on interior design projects...i personally have been blown away by the spaces these two have created. ashley also creates projects on her own and sells her fairy gardens large & small all nestled into the cutest finds. she sells them locally to friends and family, does custom orders and you can purchase them directly from her, at her bff chalene parkin’s salon in salem utah, or at local markets like the beehive bazaar in orem, utah.
our lil’ family has been so lucky to have lived with family in the same town...and for a while, in the same neighborhood. i grew up far away from cousins, aunts & uncles, so having these opportunities and friendships for my kiddos have been so dreamy. today i want to introduce you to my sister-in-law traci berg. full of talent, kindness, a great listener and super organized, she is the kind of friend we all consider ourselves lucky to know.
when we built our house on paradise lane, we had no idea how much of a refuge this lil’ street and neighborhood would become for our family. We started bonding with the neighbors as several of us were working in our yards that first summer...we quickly fell in love with brenda child (our neighbor across the street). brenda is one of those uniquely gifted souls that consist of equal parts talent, gumption & determination. there is no project too big or complicated for her...she is a problem solver through and through and does it with a huge smile and dose of finesse.
being a mother of 7, widow, and caretaker to several grands, my mother in law exemplifies selflessness every day. she loves her family, her garden...
